Job Title Field Service Engineer

Requirements and role description-

To carry out field based engineering duties including installation,commissioning and breakdowns on a range of Vertical and Horizontal Flow Wrapping equipment as well as any ancilliary equipment.You will also be expected to deliver training to our customers staff on the safe use of our equipment.
To carry out internal workshop duties such as commissioning of HFFS and VFFS flowrap machines prior to delivery to our customers sites.
To be able to carry out mechanical and electrical refurbishment and repairs to older machines both in our workshop and out at our customers sites.
To provide efficient, accurate and effective engineering and technical support to external customers in a professional manner.
This role requires a self motivated, responsible and driven attitude to work as you will be expected to work unsupervised and to have the aptitude and desire to find out information and resolutions to presented issues and problems using the resources available.
You should always look to represent the company in the most professional way and to promote and protect the best interest of the company.
It is also a pre-requisite of the role to promote the companies after-market activities to give an added value.

Qualifications are to be the acceptable standard with ideally a minimum of City & Guilds Electrical Level 4 / HND for this position in either electrical/electronics.

In addition to this you must be able to demonstrate a high level of mechanical aptitude to be able to carry out the mechanical tasks that are a key aspect to this role.

We will also consider candidates with a high level of mechanical skills and qualifications who can demonstrate a strong electrical knowhow to compliment the demands of the role.

The areas of expertise desired are;
 Experience in packaging machines and FMCG is preferred.
 Electrical/Electronics-sound servo drive/PLC experience.
 Software-ideally programming skills
 Experience in packaging machines and FMCG is preferred.
 Working knowledge of mechanical drawings and fitting techniques
 Pneumatics
 Sound all round engineering skills
 Excellent communication skills and a great attitude to team building
 Computer literate
 Good paperwork management skills

Hours Your normal hours of work are 40 per week; however, the actual times of work will vary according to the needs of the business and may involve evening, night and weekend working.
In addition to these hours you will be required to work a reasonable amount of additional hours when necessary to fulfil the requirements of your role to the satisfaction of the Company, subject to the provisions of the Working Time Regulations 1998.

You will be expected to stay overnight if work is undertaken on consecutive days at a customer site that is located more than 90 minutes travel time from your home.
You will be expected, when requested or as determined by the rota, to work up to 2 weekends in 4 to travel to and work at customer sites.

This will involve signing up to an “availability “diary in order for our service department to plan workload.
Once you have worked 40 hours in the current week, inclusive of travel time, you will be eligible for payment at the following rates for authorised overtime: :
Weekdays before 7am or after 6pm 1.5 x base rate
Saturday's 1.5 x base rate
Sundays and Bank/Public Holidays

* 2 x base rate

*1.5 x base rate for Sunday if Saturday not worked)
24/7 support
You will be required to participate in the 24/7 after hours support rota which involves providing telephone support to our contracted customers on a 24/7 basis.

This will be subject to a fixed payment reward system for each period of cover.

Starting salary will be £33,000 per annum.

This could rise to £35,000 provided you achieve expected performance levels within a set and pre-agreed period and dependent upon skills and experience.
OTE circa £42,000 per annum.In addition commission is paid for any self generated parts or machinery upgrade projects that you generate.

Location- Home based with travel to UK customer sites as required and occasional travel abroad to our manufacturing facilities.
