Hire Desk Controller - Stafford Area

Key Responsibilities:

Main Activities

  • Responsible for receiving orders (On-hires) and requests for collections/ off hires

  • Planning transport for deliveries and collections  Efficient running and co-ordinating of internal and external haulage

  • Calculating and supply of quotes

  • Dealing with damages, calculating costs, liaising with customers regarding damages and ensuring payment is received


  • To provide accurate and timely information as required by the Company


  • To demonstrate and maintain an understanding of our product range in order to sell the key benefits to our customers

Dealing with Customers

  • To proactively work jointly with all departments and colleagues across the range of functions to ensure we deliver the highest level of customer service on a consistent basis

  • Deal with customer enquiries and resolve issues

  • Provide guidance and information to customers on equipment

  • Maintain an effective and positive relationship with customers and other depots/ departments

  • Build customer relationships to retain existing business

  • Ensuring that all opportunities to maximise the Depots sales to a customer are attained


  • Ensure the Management Systems are adhered to within your area of responsibility

  • Processing all input to IT systems and paperwork relating to on-hires, off-hires and stock transfers, etc.

  • Ensure all paperwork is co-ordinated with delivery of equipment


  • General assistance in the depot/ Company when required

  • Maintain an effective and positive relationship with other depots/ departments

  • To attend meetings and training programmes as required

  • Provide regular feedback to the Depot Manager

  • Contribute to Sales Meetings

  • Taking part in periodic stock takes
