Southend Night Tine Economy Volunteer

Sova aim to build a safer, stronger and fairer society. We are excited to work in partnership with Southend-on-Sea Borough Council and other night time economy stakeholders to support visitors and residents who find themselves in a vulnerable position, also ensuring that people are able to have enjoyable and safe nights in the town.
We have worked in the heart of communities for more than 40 years and are looking for committed and passionate volunteers with a special interest in public safety, who can work flexible shifts from 9:30pm to 5:30am Friday and Saturday night on a rota basis for a minimum of 4 hours.
Our volunteers will provide an invaluable service to individuals needing support due to substance misuse, anti-social behaviour or who have been victims of crime.
You will have a unique opportunity to work alongside Police, emergency services and other public safety providers operating in the night time economy, you will be provided with training that includes;
· First aid for frontline workers
· Basic life support
· De-escalation skills
· Data protection
We deliver a highly visible, flexible service that needs to needs of individuals through the use of a static van and mobile workforce delivering in first aid, information and guidance, sign posting and access to day services for follow on support such as mental health, domestic violence and drug and alcohol services.
You will be supporting a diverse range of people including young adults, homeless, visitors to Southend, local residents and people with particular vulnerabilities.
All volunteers will be required to complete training, an enhanced DBS and carry out a taster shift before being accepted onto the service.
