Could you make a difference in the homecare sector? Do you have an interest in social care policy and great care that helps people remain independent at home?

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our dynamic team which supports domiciliary care providers across the UK.

United Kingdom Homecare Association (UKHCA) is the national, member-led, representative body dedicated to high quality home-based care.  Our policy team continuously analyses the rapidly changing social care sector to equip our member organisations to deliver safe, effective and dignified care.  At the same time we influence Government policy to enable care at home to become the service of choice for older and disabled people.

Our new Policy Officer will join a team of six people, and will regularly review the policy landscape, produce information and resources for our member organisations, coordinate responses to public consultations and assist with our external representation and the Media.

Duties will include:

  • Representing UKHCA with Government, policymakers and stakeholders;
  • Analysis of policy issues within the homecare sector;
  • Writing articles for publication and use in social media;
  • Gathering and analysing complex data;
  • Participating in UKHCA’s telephone helpline.

The skills, knowledge and experience required include:

  • An understanding of the issues affecting the social care and health system;
  • An interest in regulation and an understanding of legislation;
  • The ability to develop and manage relationships with a range of stakeholders;
  • Clear and confident communication skills, including excellent spoken and written English;
  • Numeracy skills, with ability to analyse and report on qualitative and quantitative data;
  • Educated to graduate level, or comparable experience.

You will be keen to engage and inspire a range of stakeholders including homecare providers, Government officials and statutory regulators.  In return we offer the opportunity for you to use your expertise and passion to improve services and influence social care policy.

Please apply with a CV and covering letter which demonstrates why your skills and experience would enable you to comply with the job description, which is available at www.ukhca.co.uk/pdfs/policy_officer_201710.pdf
