Contract: Consultancy - Full Time
Duration: 6 months (with possibility of extension)

With the youngest major city in Europe and the most diverse region outside of London, the West Midlands is already home to the audience of the future.

The region has bold plans to position itself as the UK's leading future-facing creative hub within the next decade.


The film, TV and games sectors are contributing to this regional growth, supported by some of the world's leading HE/FE institutions and major skills infrastructure such as Birmingham City University's £63m STEAMhouse, BOA's new £20m Digital Academy, Black Country's new screen school and Skills Factory and Warwickshire's Digital School House.

This is underpinned by the West Midlands Combined Authority's (WMCA) £180m skills and productivity portfolio focused on shaping the skills and talent to meet future industry needs.


Whilst the West Midlands screen sector has existing strengths, the region has the potential to develop a global brand as a place where stories and ideas are developed by the screen sectors into a wide range of intellectual property.


To do this we need to equip our regional talent from all backgrounds and ages with industry-led skills and training to ensure they are part of this regional screen renaissance.


Create Central has recently secured over £2m investment to deliver its WM Creative Content Growth Plan 2020-2022 and are looking for to build a team of dynamic industry specialists to start delivery of its ambitious programme.

This programme includes a strong focus on skills and project development, including the management of Create Central Bootcamp Pilots and the development of a major digital skills initiative the Future Talent Studio.

Create Central is a private-sector industry led body with the remit of turbo charging the West Midlands' screen sectors.

Emerging from the West Midlands Combined Authority, it is chaired by Deloitte's North & South Europe TMT Industry Leader Ed Shedd, with creative industries specialist Suzie Norton as Executive Lead.

Who we're looking for
A dynamic, creative and entrepreneurial individual, you will have a proven skills background and commercial experience.

Your deep understanding of the UK screen sector means you have an excellent contacts across the creative industries.

Your expertise in developing projects with multiple stakeholders means you have a flair for managing professional relationships, and you are comfortable working at pace.


Embedded within Create Central and working in close partnership with WMCA Skills and Productivity Team and Tin Smart Social they will be responsible for project managing Create Central's role in the development and delivery of the Bootcamp Pilots and the Future Talent Studio project.

They will also oversee the commissioning of a skills mapping for the sector and the development of other projects.
