The Digital and Data Department
As of the 1st July 2020 the WMCA introduced a new Digital and Data Team, designed to develop a high performing team that can provide excellent support to the complex multi functions of the WMCA, with the key aim to deliver a robust, high-quality Digital and Data function to our stakeholders.


Our customer and service focused Digital and Data Team encompasses several functions, from Technical Architects, Business Analysts to Design and Development, through Transition into Operational infrastructure, cloud and service desk support.

Bringing together a wide range of specialists and working together to provide a customer centric service, as the heart of what we do is to provide excellence.

About the role
We are currently recruiting for a highly experienced, dynamic MS Power BI specialist, who is adept at data modelling, data visualization and dataset preparation, to deliver and implement effective enterprise business intelligence solutions.

The successful candidate will take ownership of our business intelligence systems, helping WMCA and its stakeholders build and develop the various data platforms necessary.


As a Microsoft PowerBI specialist, you will enhance the IT Delivery Team and its ability to deliver a complete customer focused service to the organisation for all its Business Intelligence needs, be the go-to person, provide advice and support where needed and help to deliver excellence in all areas, helping to uphold a service focused, customer centric approach.


As an advocate for Power BI, you will need to maintain, support and develop the WMCA Power BI expertise.

The role represents an exciting opportunity to work with others across the team and the wider organisation to help deliver and develop solutions that provide meaningful data for the business, helping the team deliver quality and value to its customers.


Key responsibilities:
, Assist in the delivery of quality solutions using Microsoft Power BI Business Intelligence tools
, Design, develop, implement and support various reporting solutions
, Develop reports, dashboards and scorecards, data exploration, and visual analytics using existing and emerging technologies and tools.
, Provide feedback and coaching of other team members in the use of Microsoft Power BI and related technologies.
, Data preparation via Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) tools and techniques to utilise both structured and unstructured data


Required skills:
, Evidence of outstanding working relationship with end users in exceeding their expectations with excellent customer service, communication and presentation skills
, Strong experience of visual design, Power BI dashboard and Power BI tools.
, Demonstrable experience as a Business Intelligence developer using the Microsoft business intelligence stack e.g.

PowerBI, SQL Server database, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS.
, Strong DAX programming skills: ability to construct new data models, and create complex measures to deliver valuable insight
, Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills
, Presenting information in a clear and concise manner with drill down capability and conditional formatting where triggers are met
, Collating data from varying sources, complexity, formats and structures.
, Creating and managing data segregation and row-level security
, Automation of process
