Audio Research Scientist

A well-established R&D innovator of digital signal processing and AI is in fast growth mode and ramping up their expertise with the search for new talent for their advanced technology R&D site.

They are seeking 2 Audio Research Scientists to roll-up their sleeves and join them on a voyage of discovery and invention!

You will determine the next-generation revolutionary concepts and making use of strengths found in the existing portfolio, translate your discoveries into new innovative products.

Your role here includes:

Scouting for new feature developments within speaker and amplifier design (e.g.

bass boost, speaker protection) you will closely follow-up research publications, conferences, and build a PoC, to illustrate your concepts to management, rapid prototype strong products with your colleagues, coaching and mentoring development teams in the process as well as guiding and mentor PhD students.

In this context, you will be able to roll up your sleeves, and make use real-time processing platforms (RPi, BeagleBone, etc.) to fast prototype PoC (in Matlab, Python).

Additionally, you will utilise your audio/acoustic perception and in close collaboration with the development team, participating in ongoing product development activities.

This includes, enhancing the existing relatively complex audio processing chains with new functional modules, starting from Matlab as a prototyping environment.

Additionally, validating the solution by testing, both the functionality, and the mathematics, by means of software testing tools and frameworks, scripting in Python, reviewing FxP C code implementation, in parallel, utilising your subjective listening abilities.

What you bring to the team:

  • PhD or MSc in engineering or related discipline.

  • Good communication skills to work with the rest of the multi-cultural and disciplinary team and with end-customer teams and management relationships.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of digital signal processing.

  • Audio algorithm design experience highly preferred.

    Otherwise, a strong signal processing algorithm design background in video or other, PLUS a very strong affinity with acoustics, i.e.

    you are a musician, singer, or sound technician.

  • Experience in working agile (scrum).

  • Proficient in Python, Matlab.
