Production Team Leader

Based in Yate, North Bristol, our client is a leading manufacturer and supplier of inks and varnishes to label printers across the world.

They are looking to recruit a full time Team Leader for their busy Production department. 

Reporting directly to the Production Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of approximately 12 people across several manufacturing cells.

You will be tasked with ensuring that delivery of the daily plan is achieved, communicating cross functionally across the business to problem solve issues where successful delivery of the plan might be compromised.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:


  • Effectively manage your team through strong leadership and motivation to achieve outstanding performance in all disciplines including Quality, GMP, H & S, PPM, 6S, LEAN, to achieve operational objectives and KPI targets
  • Demonstrate role model leadership, ensuring accountability and good performance management for all in the team
  • Lead and manage equipment and labour resources as required to deliver production plan execution to agreed schedules
  • Manage the training and development of your team to achieve optimum production efficiency and product quality.

    This will include all SOP's, Quality system requirements, documentation, H&S, GMP and 6s.

    Identify on-going training needs and liaise with others to complete if necessary.

    Maintain the skills matrix for all employees on your shift
  • Deputise for other Production Team Leaders & Production Manager, and assist in manufacturing activities as and when required
  • Maintain effective communication at all levels via formal/ informal meetings, briefings and visual aids, including delivery of toolbox talks and team briefings
  • Monitor, measure and reduce production loss and wastage, identify and implement process improvements to improve output efficiencies, and lead the drive for continuous improvement
  • Ensure team and operator compliance in accordance with Company's Policies on Health and Safety, Company rules & regulations
  • Ensure informal/formal meetings with direct and indirect employees are conducted in line with Company standards with regard to performance, conduct and absence
  • Manage and support 6S in the workplace ensuring team and operator compliance to maintain the highest levels of hygiene and housekeeping
  • Carry out Quality, Health & Safety, 6S audits and inspections
  • Assist in Customer complaint & Non-Conformance resolutions through timely Investigation, Root Cause Analysis, Corrective & Preventative Actions

  • Proven track record of supervising within a manufacturing environment
  • The ability to inspire and nurture employees to ensure they achieve their potential
  • Goal oriented, with the ability to work under demanding conditions
  • Demonstrated strong level of communication at all levels
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment with minimal supervision

Job details:

Permanent position; 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day Monday to Friday – days

Starting salary - £25,000 plus dependant on experience

25 days holiday per year, plus bank holidays and pension scheme.
