Web Developer

A fantastic opportunity for a high-calibre Web Developer who is seeking a new role with an established, but entrepreneurial forward-thinking company!

Our client is indisputably at the forefront of coach training and personal development worldwide, along with working on some fantastic digital projects with some well-known household names.

It’s an exciting time in the digital world, so they want to add additional support to their technical team, and are therefore looking to hire a mid-weight developer to work with the CTO on the deployment of maintenance of new and existing systems.  Along with their websites, you will be working on cutting-edge training platforms, marketing campaigns and digital projects to name a few.

It is a fast-paced and innovative company to work for, they love all things coaching, personal development and entrepreneurial - if you have drive, like your ideas to be heard, are innovative, agile and like to use your initiative - rather than do the same thing every day, then this will be a fantastic opportunity for you!

About the Role

The job will be split with a 25% bias towards web building, so you’ll need to be highly proficient in CSS3, and HTML5, and should be able to take designs provided in XD (or similar) and convert these to a pixel perfect, fully responsive build using the latest techniques.

They are after pure HTML/CSS skills here, if you rely on Java frameworks for your builds then this probably isn’t for you.

The remaining 75% will be development, primarily in PHP.

You should be able to proficiently code in PHP without the use of frameworks.

They may use these on some projects, if justified, but you should feel right at home in pure PHP.

Some legacy sites are coded in classic ASP, and you’ll be working together with the CTO to convert these to PHP.   Their sites are hosted on hybrid cloud VM’s, running IIS and MSSQL, so experience of these environments would be advantageous.

In addition to working on their own in-house systems, you will have the opportunity with work on some exciting projects commissioned by external clients.

Key Attitude

Our client is looking for:

A commercially aware developer who is happy to work to tight timescales and understands the importance of identifying the quickest route to completion, whilst maintaining high standards.

If you like to spend 3 weeks shaving nano seconds of processing times, then look away.

If you understand that in today’s ever-changing world that time to market is becoming one of the most important business rules, then you are the right person for them.  If you get that sometimes it's time to grab a drink, stick on some music and code away until midnight to get a product live, then you’re the one for them.

Key Requirements:

  • Strong PHP experience
  • HTML5, CSS3, SCSS, JavaScript/Query
  • Strong SQL skills (ideally MSSQL, but MYSQL would be acceptable)

  • API experience using Curl or similar
  • IIS/Server Admin
  • MSSQL Server Agent
  • App Building Experience

Location: Working from home, but within proximity to Bristol – regular/weekly meetups with the CTO will be important.

There will also be a potential future option to work from a shared workspace.
