Senior Full-Stack Web Developer

An exciting, well-established software development company has an opportunity for a ''work from home' Senior Web Developer.

You will be working with a range from start-ups through to multi-nationals; blue-chips to government; financial services to education; and everything in between.

You will be required to take ownership of the technical design, development, and implementation of new products and services, as well as support and enhance existing systems.

We are looking for:

• A senior-level full-stack web developer
• A polyglot with strong skills and focus in two (or more) stacks (i.e.

two backend languages and two frontend frameworks), and working knowledge of more
• The ability and enthusiasm to pick up new languages, frameworks, and techniques, and participate in critical analysis and project architecture decisions
• A true programmer, a software engineer who creates well-engineered, scalable, clean code, who can bring traditional programming knowledge and broad experience across a range of technologies
• Someone who can handle pure, vanilla code, without any libraries or frameworks, as well as having knowledge of modern techniques and being able to pick up new approaches quickly
• A keen “technologist”, you will always be seeking to learn new things and expand your skills
• An original thinker, producing world-class code for a variety of prestigious clients whilst supporting the team and project goals

Key requirements:
• A senior developer with at least eight years of commercial experience
• Highly proficient in core web development and software engineering skills, crossdiscipline, and capable of working with a mix of technologies (we work with a variety of frameworks and database engines, and both web and non-web applications)
• Proactive, with the ability to manage time well, and work on multiple projects at once (usually two or three)
• An organised self-starter with effective communication skills
• Detail-orientated, caring greatly about quality of work
• A strong grasp of programming theory and the ability to adapt knowledge to fit a given situation
• Passionate about DRY principles and able to create robust, reusable code that can easily be extended and maintained

Essential skills You should be confident and competent in all of these, to a high level:
• Backend: Javascript, Python, or PHP, plus one more (either one of these or another language) - e.g.

JS and Python, Python and Go, etc.

• Appropriate backend frameworks for the languages you use: e.g.

Node, Express, Django, Flask, Laravel, etc.

• Appropriate ORM, such as SQLAlchemy or similar
• MVC, MVVC • Frontend: Javascript (pure) and two or more of React, Vue, or Angular
• RESTful APIs, Swagger
• TDD, BDD, testing frameworks
• Unit testing tools
• Git, Docker, CI/CD,command-line Linux
• High standard of written and spoken English

Desirable skills The more of these you have experience with in addition to the above, the better:
• Go, Rust, Ruby
• PostgreSQL, RethinkDB, MongoDB, Redis
• Typescript, Redux, VueX, MobX
• Mobile apps (React Native, Swift/Java)
• Kubernetes, LXC/LXD, Linux services
• Writing specs and technical documentation
