Community Support Worker

New opportunity not to be missed

Optima Health and Social Care Ltd is looking recruit up to 6 people to join their team based in Runcorn (WA7 and/or WA8).

You will join them as a Community Support Worker on a part or full-time basis working alongside their Care Co-ordinators and Nurse Trainer Practitioners

In return, you will receive a competitive hourly rate of £9.00 - £10.00 per hour (after successful training and probation) and dependent upon service user’s needs.

Hours: As they support their service users 24/7 they need people who can work a mixture of Earlies, Lates and Waking Nights within a family home or school environment.

Optima Health and Social Care Ltd is a well-established Specialist Care Provider.

They provide support services to children, young people, and adults with complex health needs.

They are not a Domiciliary Care Agency.

All their employees have fixed hours permanent contracts and they do not operate a ‘patch’ or ‘run’ system.

They provide mainly large packages of support and recruit specifically for each Service User Support Package.

All rotas are planned at least one month in advance and they are moving to a ‘rolling rota’ system very soon.

This means you will know from one month to the next what your standard work pattern will be.

The Community Support Worker role:

The role will primarily involve providing personal and intimate support and care to children or young adults who often have life limiting conditions, multi-sensory impairments and complex health needs.

You will be assigned to one primary service user and their family and will be involved in their lives on a day to day basis progressing to support in other packages of care.

This may involve supporting at home, on activities or even into school each day.

If the children need to return to hospital for a short while you may also be able to support them there.

You will be fully supported through their training programme (accredited by Alder Hey and Royal Manchester children’s Hospitals), to be safe, confident and competent to deliver the clinical skills the service user needs.

These may involve, gastrostomy care, tracheostomy care, even long-term ventilation needs and personal care.

Because of the nature of their work and the needs for the service users they ask for a minimum commitment of 24 months post training.

  • A real desire to support people in a positive and effective manner
  • Experience (preferred) in supporting people with additional needs
  • Experience (preferred) of managing complex children’s care
  • Experience working within community services – maybe elderly care, Nursery services or children’s services
  • Willingness to learn new ‘clinical skills’
  • Treat people with dignity & respect and in a friendly way
