Machinist / Bench Joiner

Experienced machinist and bench joiner wanted to be a part of a growing team of woodworking professionals in a great growing workshop.

The role is within the workshop of the company, that is situated in Willenhall, West Midlands — five minutes from junction 10 of the M6.

Providing them with the highest quality products on the market— such as doors and frames, windows, and x-ray screens.

Your Role:

Your role will be to machine and manufacture timber components that are used in the production of x-ray protective door-sets and windows.

The role will require you to set the correct tooling in the machines and set them to produce the required dimensions for each specific job.

It will be your primary role to provide the team with the hardwood materials for each job and secondary role to assist with the wood joining when required.

Key Requirements:

The machines you will be using include the following:

Crosscutter, Four-cutter, Circular saw, Surfacer, Plainer, Panel saw.

With these machines in mind, it will be expected of you to know how to use each of the machines with confidence and accuracy (training on specific machines is available).

  • Minimum experience of 5 years as a joiner/wood machinist required (Open to discussion if you feel you are more than capable)
  • Be able to select and tell hardwood species at a glance (Ideal)
  • Work economically and efficiently, keeping wastage to a minimum.

    Whilst working to a planned schedule, taking ownership of your work and results
  • Ideal if you have worked with hardwood timber door & window machining before
  • Be tidy and maintain a good level of housekeeping
  • Be a team player

What You will Get:

  • Being a part of the growing team you will be paid £12 - £14 an hour depending on the responsibilities you take
  • Overtime is available
  • The role is within the workshop, it does not require any site travel, so there will be no working away, meaning your days will be consistent
