Trainee Glass Fitter

 

We are a bespoke glass supply and installation business, working with customers to provide quality glass products which include glass balustrades, custom shower enclosures, glass for staircases, juliet balconies, glass doors, partitions and walk on floor glass.

We are looking to hire a hard-working and skilled labourer to join our growing installation team.

The successful candidate will enjoy working as part of a team to provide an outstanding service to our customers at the final stage of their project.

Job Specifications –


  • Working outdoors in most weathers unless it is deemed dangerous
  • Occasionally working away from home where required
  • Following all health and safety procedures on site and when handling the glass
  • Using hand tools and operating cutting machinery
  • Being part of a skilled team of hardware and glass installers
  • Possible requirement to drive the company van to and from installations –
  • Driving license required
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience
  • Use of personal phone required for system applications and phone calls

Fitter’s responsibilities include –


  • Supporting each project from start to finish on site, working closely with the team and Production Manager 
  • Receive all deliveries of glass/hardware, completing a thorough quality check within 48 hours of the delivery date
  • Reporting any defects or problems with the glass delivered for remakes to be requested
  • Reporting any delivery delays or missing parts
  • Following an organised electronic diary of scheduled installations
  • Van maintenance checks and completing report for records
  • Provide feedback on hired tools and their expiration, replacement hand tools, and anything that might need replacing/fixing
  • Preparing vans for installation, ensuring all parts are loaded for the upcoming project
  • Handling and managing glass during installation, sometimes from a regulatory height
  • Updating Production Manager if schedule is delayed
  • Taking accurate measurements on site following first stage installation and communicating these to the technician for CAD files to be drawn
  • Completing templating visits to obtain accurate measurements for glass production
  • Communicate any issues to production manager
  • Organisation of the on-site warehouse
  • Updating stock sheet quantities
  • Be part of an end of week team get together to catch up after the week and have cheers to a job well done
  • Attend occasional systems training sessions
