Accounts and Payroll Supervisor

Maternity Cover (12 Months).

Our client, a busy family run logistics business based in Wrexham, is looking to recruit an experienced Accounts and Payroll supervisor who will report into the general manager and family directors. 

About the Role

The successful candidate will have overall responsibility of the accounts which will include, managing purchase ledger, overseeing sales ledger, credit control, preparing and producing monthly management accounts along with full payroll processing for the organisation.

Key Roles & Responsibilities to include:


  • Preparation, calculation and processing of weekly/monthly payroll
  • Complete pension and auto-enrolment responsibilities along with management of employee holiday entitlement
  • Reconcile monthly payroll and month end payments to external agencies such as HMRC and pension schemes within required time frames
  • Preparing and reconciling sales, purchase and nominal ledgers
  • Complete bank reconciliation, update and manage cash flow
  • Monitor customer credit limits and chase overdue accounts
  • Calculate, prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns and online payments
  • Maintain the asset register
  • Asist in the production of end of year accounts
  • Fuel purchasing

Key Skills & Experience:

To be successfully considered for the role, you will have:


  • Previous experience, ideally from a similar role within logistics
  • Have solid payroll knowledge and experience, including PAYE, pensions (auto-enrolment) and statutory requirements
  • Experience of managing cash flow
  • Strong SAGE 50, payroll & excel and reporting skills
  • Experience of producing monthly Management accounts
  • Hold a minimum of AAT (LEVEL 4) qualified or equivalent
  • A methodical and structured approach to tasks
  • A flexible and adaptable nature with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Excellent communication skills
