Do you want to be part of a team-leading on the de-carbonisation of the West Midlands? Do you want to create something great, with huge impact right from the start? Do you enjoy having the autonomy to create your own work programme, giving you the freedom to achieve goals and make a real difference to people's lives?

Our aim is to make the West Midlands fairer, greener, and healthier and this includes delivering the climate change strategy where we are working across a wide range of activities to take the region to net-zero carbon emissions by 2041.

To support us on this journey we are looking for a Net Zero Neighbourhood Delivery Manager to establish cross directorate support for the appropriate investment of £2m capital spend on retrofit as the basis of a Net Zero Neighbourhood.

The role will form part of the newly formed Sustainable Market for Affordable Retrofit Technologies (SMART) Hub to enable the delivery of domestic retrofit as part of the #WM2041 Climate Change Five Year Plan.

As the Net Zero Neighbourhood Delivery Manager, you will build cross-organisational and local authority support for the Net Zero Neighbourhood (NZN) concept, as part of a programme to deliver carbon savings from domestic retrofit through the #WM2041 Five Year Plan, and work across directorates to ensure that capital funds for a ‘Net Zero Neighbourhood' are invested in retrofit activities effectively and leverage maximum benefit in terms of carbon savings, social value, and investment.

This role will be based within the West Midlands Combined Authority's Energy Capital Team - the team tasked with delivering the Regional Energy Strategy and securing the powers and resources necessary to deliver it effectively - and will work across directorates and departments to contribute to the net-zero transition through action on domestic retrofit.

This role is being offered on a two-year fixed-term contract.

About you

We're looking for someone who really does want to make a difference to climate change and carbon reduction.

Someone who is as passionate about the West Midlands as we are.

You'll have experience of managing significant capital projects, public sector procurement, and leveraging additional value together with experience in developing investment cases.

You'll be working with experts to explore and test models to attract private investment to complement public funding programmes and manage a wide range of stakeholders, both within and outside the WMCA and Energy Capital to ensure maximum impact and collaboration amongst partners - and therefore excellent interpersonal, collaboration and engagement skills, and experience of working across all levels of an organisation, are needed.

A ‘carbon reduction trailblazer', you'll be someone who wants to leave a lasting legacy in our region and someone who wants to make a difference to the future of our planet.
