About you

The role does not have any pre-requisite for prior Sector experience although a background in related disciplines e.g.

Education service provision, Training consultancy, Recruitment sales, etc.

would be useful.

Equally, this could be a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to transition from an unrelated sector (e.g.

Hospitality, Leisure, Travel) but who can demonstrate the generic skills, attributes and experience that we believe will be important to success long term.

The Opportunity

Pitman Training is looking for a Centre Manager (evolving to General Manager) to build a team and shape the business from the ground up to becoming the leading provider of vocational skills training across London.

The successful candidate will start in a hands-on role and build a team, systemise and operate the business with a view to having an equity participation to directly reward his/her efforts in driving the long-term success of the business.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious, versatile customer-service oriented manager with great people, business development and operational skills, combined with a growth mindset and a can-do attitude.

Someone who will relish the autonomy of growing the business with a great team, backed up with investment, strategic support, coaching and guidance from highly experienced co-owners building a portfolio of high growth businesses.

The main areas of the role include, but are not limited to:


  • Create and deliver local Marketing plans
  • Network with local employers and institutions
  • Works alongside the Course Advisors in converting Leads, generating appointments and delivering student enrolments
  • Managing the completion rates of all students
  • Promote outstanding student experience and manage any customer complaints
  • Deliver the external e-assessment requirements for leading bodies
  • Manage the costs of the centre to maximise operational efficiency and profitability
  • Maintain welcoming, professional environment in the centre
  • Market and competitor analysis and action to determine any initiatives, promotions, offers or pricing that fit with the brand
  • Scheduling of all staff in the centre and all HR aspects
  • Fully train staff on all operational systems to ensure all are able to use them efficiently
  • Develop team members through the ongoing study of Pitman Training courses and active management, coaching and support.
  • Operate systems to track, measure and report performance against all KPI’s
  • Weekly and monthly forecasting, management and reporting against an agreed budget and plan.
