Our Productivity & Skills Directorate is working with a range of Community Learning and Training providers to improve digital skills for people and organisations, from the essential skills that help reduce digital exclusion, to the skills workers need in an increasingly digital economy, and through to the advanced skills required for specialist roles.


Over the past two years, the West Midlands Combined Authority has funded thousands of local residents to learn new skills for the jobs of the future.

These include 1,500 people who have joined digital boot camps thanks to the Digital Retraining Fund.

But it doesn't stop there.


We are looking for an Assistant Delivery Manager to further develop, promote and amplify the programme portfolio to a range of stakeholders and support the implementation of national and regional programmes and initiatives.

This role will lead on the engagement with Community Learning providers across the West Midlands, ensuring that delivery is fed into the wider WMCA skills offer and ensuring that gaps in provision are identified and fed into the wider Productivity and Skills Team.


What will you be doing?


, Support in the management and progress reporting of the Digital Skills Partnership
, Identify Digital opportunities across the region to include employer partners, gaps in provision and provider liaison
, Support with the transition of the Digital Retraining Fund providers over to the Adult Education Budget
, Work closely with the digital coalition to ensure that skills are accurately represented
, Represent the CA at digital events across the region
, Work with stakeholders across the city to help influence skills delivery at a Community Learning Level
, Work with colleagues in the AEB team to understand funding mechanisms for Community Learning and Digital provision and to support with the strategic planning around allocating these funds
, Attend Community Learning forums/groups
, Work with marketing and communications to ensure that community learning is represented within the CA
, Support with developing the portfolio offer across Productivity & Skills of both digital and community learning


About you


We are looking for someone with the skills and knowledge to be able to rapidly engage with providers within the training and community arena.

Someone with good geographical knowledge of the West Midlands and knowledge of the intangible barriers that people face to getting online.

Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:


, Proven experience relating to the delivery of digital retraining
, Evidence of working with a wide range of stakeholders all working towards the same end goal
, Understanding of the wider employment, skills and training landscape
, Knowledge of the Digital training landscape from entry-level through to higher-level qualification
, Demonstrable knowledge of the West Midlands economic and political landscape
, Proven ability to contribute towards solving complex problems and identify innovative solutions
, Proven experience in supporting with the management and monitoring of programmes and performance
, Strong influencing and negotiation skills
, Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to use evidence to support decision making
, Understanding of the political processes and experience of managing politically sensitive issues
, An effective communicator with the ability to communicate complex ideas
, Ability to work in a pressurised environment and manage competing priorities whilst delivering on a broad range of projects and adapting to changing circumstances and priorities
