Black Country Women's Aid (BCWA) is an established charity working across the Black Country and wider West Midlands providing accommodation and community support services to victims of domestic abuse, sexual abuse and human trafficking.

Services range from advocacy, civil remedies, support in court, individual and group support and access to a range of therapeutic interventions.

All services are client and needs led.

The team:

Our Therapeutic Services provide excellent time-limited counselling to support women, men and children in conjunction with our Rape and Sexual Violence Service, which is the largest specialist service provider in the Black Country, supporting victims and survivors of sexual abuse.


Our specialist counselling team combines expertise with a sound understanding of trauma, providing an exceptional service to our clients.

Job Role

Job Title: Part-time Play Therapist/Children and Young Person's Counsellor
Positions available: 1 part-time position (15 hours/2 days per week), based across the Black Country
Salary: £25,946.10 (FTE) full time equivalent/ £10,378.44 pro rata
Closing date: Monday 16th August


Is this you?

We are looking for a qualified counsellor to provide play therapy and counselling support to children and young people.


You will support with the administration and monitoring of referrals and hold a caseload of children and young people between the ages of 5 and 18, who have experienced sexual violence and/or abuse.


We are looking for creative candidates with excellent communication skills, good written language skills, experience handling data and working with Excel and databases.


This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience in the charitable sector and use your skills to support a dynamic and growing organisation.


The Role:

You will be providing counselling support to children and young people or adults, who have experiences of sexual violence and abuse.


You will be required to provide a high-quality frontline service to victims, ensuring that support is trauma-informed and tailored to the individual needs of the child or young person.


This role will be based within our Sexual Violence Services, supporting the work of the Children's Independent Sexual Violence Advisors (CHISVAs) and managing referrals through our Paediatric Sexual Assault Referral Centre contract (PSARC).

You will receive appropriate training to undertake the duties of the job on and on and offsite basis and all situations are risk assessed.
