Registered Children's Nurse

Are you a first level Registered Sick Children’s Nurse (RSCN) or registered children’s nurse (RN – Children), with 2 years post registration experience? Are you passionate about making a difference to the lives of children and young people?

About the Company

Optima Health and Social Care are a provider of community care for children and young people with complex health needs, supporting their service users to live at home.

They provide bespoke training for their Community Support Workers to enable them to safely support their service users.

Their support workers are highly skilled and trained in a variety of interventions ranging from nutritional support and medication administration via PEG devices through to more complex management of tracheostomies and home ventilation.

Their services are commissioned by local NHS Clinical Commissioning Group’s, Social Care Services and privately across the Northwest of England.

Their reputation as a provider of quality health care is growing and they have successfully been awarded tenders and packages ranging from 20hrs a week to 24/7 packages of care.

In order to meet the growing needs of the service whilst maintaining their high standards of care, they currently have a vacancy within their nursing team for a full time Registered Children’s Nurse.

You will be working across Merseyside.

About the Role

You will work across a small & manageable caseload and assist the Clinical Lead in assessing service users’ clinical needs, writing care plans and delivering in house evidence based training and ongoing initial and annual competency assessment and clinical skills ‘sign off’ of their new and existing community support workers.

Your working week will predominately be completed during normal office hours, some flexibility may be required.

You will have the opportunity to work from home and be office based, ideally a combination of the two.

  • Very competitive salary - £41,712 pa (based on 40 hrs per week).

About You:

Ideally you will be:


  • children’s nurse with experience of working with/managing complex children’s care.

    Paediatric intensive care experience would be a distinct advantage.
  • Be confident in using computer data bases.
  • Good commutator with your colleagues and other professionals.
  • Ability to communicate with service users/families from all backgrounds and in different circumstances.
  • Enjoy working under own steam and be resilient.
  • Have a good sense of humour.
