Where you’ll be working
You will be working within an integrated health service in Victoria, established in 1856.

The hospital you will be working at prides itself on clinical excellence in the provision of comprehensive services including a 24/7 Urgent Care Centre, general medicine, general surgery, obstetrics, dialysis, chemotherapy, palliative care and transition care services.

The hospital is a 69-bed facility, with an 8-bed Day Procedure Unit, and two operating theatres averaging 8 elective lists per week.

In addition, there is a 30-bed aged care facility and a GP super-clinic attached to the hospital, with a range of primary health, community and home care services.

There are also on-site radiology, pathology and pharmacy services. 

As Consultant General Surgeon, you will be exposed to a wide range of acuity levels and conditions.

You will provide comprehensive specialist services, contributing to the hospital’s core values of clinical excellence and patient-focussed care.

You will work closely with other consultants as well as a junior team consisting of registrars, RMOs and interns.

You will have the opportunity to exercise professional medical leadership, clinical supervision of junior doctors, and overall management of the General Surgical services.

You will also have opportunities for research and other continued professional development.

Consultant General Surgeons can expect a competitive salary in line with the VIC Award, plus benefits. 

Requirements  
Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) is essential.
